Sculpting success: crafting a killer workout plan
Creating a solid workout plan can be one of the best places to start when forming new exercise habits. Here are my top 5 tips for crafting a killer workout plan:
Determine your fitness goals
What do you want to achieve from your workouts? Are you looking yo lose weight, build muscle or improve your CV fitness? Having specific goals in mind will allow you to create a workout plan that’s tailored to your goals.
Choose exercises
Choose exercises that are aligned with your fitness goals. It’s important to choose a mix of exercises that target different muscle groups, including core, lower body and upper body exercises and it’s always good to include a mix of compound exercises and isolation exercises.
Plan your workouts
How often will you train? When will you train? Think about breaking your workouts into different muscle groups or do a strength session one day and a cardio another day.
Set a schedule
Set a day and time when you will do each workout and stick to it. Consistency gets results. I usually recommend aiming to train 3-4 times each week.
Track your progress
Record your workouts and progress, sets, reps and the weights you use. This will help you track your progress over time and allow you to adjust your workouts accordingly.
All well rounded workout plans should include strength training, mobility work, and cardio. Strength training builds muscle, mobility and flexibility training improves how the body moves and feels and can assist strength training, while cardio is important for health and circulatory health. Make sure each workout includes a warm up and cool down.
